With the aim to introduce new perspectives of a successful world where all people live better, happy, healthy and equitably, Prince Mahidol Award Conference gladly invites everyone to join in the PMAC 2020 World Art Contest on the topic “Universal Health Coverage” through Drawings & Paintings and Community Art Project and win prizes totaling 450,000 THB.

ARTWORK FORMAT AND CRITERIA

  • Size of work 45 x 45 cm.

  • All the production techniques are allowed: Paintings, Drawings, Collage, Prints, Mixed media

  • Entry is allowed as individual or team (limit only 3 students in a team)

  • Each person/team is allowed only one submission

  • Being inspired without copying. Your entry must not infringe on the copyright of others

  • Original works must not be framed

*PMAC reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not meet our criteria

The successful artwork is required to meet at least 2 criteria below :

  • The artwork conveys that you understand the concept of Universal Health Coverage

  • The artwork presents artistic value and original idea

The winners with residence in Thailand will be invited to receive their award at
the Prince Mahidol Award Conference during 28 January - 2 February 2020 at
Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre, CentralWorld, Bangkok, Thailand.

RETURNING WORKS
  • PMAC retains the right not to return prize winning works and selected works.

  • PMAC will be responsible for repackaging all the works which are not selected and returning by post to the artists.

2. COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

Bridging culture awareness and health awarenes is the most important aspiration for the PMAC World Art Contest. The Community Art Project was initiated with the belief that art is a universal language. Artists’ expressions are able to illustrate complex messages to easy understanding that connect us to a common goal. Moreover, creative experience is one of the important aspects in revitalizing communities and towns.

Therefore, this year PMAC 2020 World Art Contest calls for Young Artists to create new perspective of artistic expression on Universal Health Coverage through the Community Art Project. The proposals should present the creative vision how art can regenerate communities and help create awareness about health in their neighborhood.

ARTWORK FORMAT AND CRITERIA

  • Examples include but are not limited to

    • Mural Painting in public area* that has received official permission

    • Sculpture or Installation art in public area* that has received official permission

    • Revitalize deteriorated area

    • Recreate healthy and lively space

    • *Public space : school, hospital, health centre, government office, bus stop, market, tourist spot, temples, etc. that has received official permission.

  • Draft/ Sketch of the overall project must be presented and submitted in A3 paper only (not exceeding 4 pieces of paper)

  • Being Inspired without copying. Your entry must not infringe on the copyright of others

AGE & ENTRY

  • Entry is allowed as a team, with not more than 12 students in a team. Students should not be over 25 years old.

  • A maximum of 3 teachers or supervisors can support the team.

  • The entry should be submitted under the name of the school or art association or club.

PRIZES AND AWARDS*

FIRST ROUND

Selected Team : THB 10,000 (5 Teams)

In the first round of selection, 5 teams will be awarded THB 10,000 each to execute their project.
After the result announcement, the project is required to be developed based on the proposal within 1 month from the date of the contract signing.
After completion, the 5 projects will be voted for the best results by the Art Contest jurors.

REMARKS

  • The selected teams are required to sign the contract indicating the commitment to deliver the project on time.

  • PMAC reserves the right to disqualify teams that fail to deliver the project on time and the disqualified team must return the THB 10,000 award.

FINAL ROUND

1st place: A Trophy, Certificate and THB 50,000
2nd place: A Trophy, Certificate and THB 40,000
3rd place: A Trophy, Certificate and THB 30,000
Honorable Mention: A Trophy, Certificate and THB 20,000 Scholarship (2 prizes)

SUCCESSFUL PROJECT

The successful project is required to meet the 3 criteria below:

  • BEAUTIFICATION
    Improve the visual community area and environment through the arts

  • CONVEY THE MESSAGE AND TELL A STORY
    Tell story of the situation of the local’s health Enable young people and communities to better understand health promotion and Universal Health Coverage through art

  • COLLABORATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Be a bridge between artists and the local community. The spirit of teamwork and integration is the goal

Notification of First Round of Selection by 1 October 2019

In the first round of selection, 5 teams will be awarded 10,000 Baht each to execute their project.
After the result announcement, the project is required to be developed based on the proposal within 1 month from the date of the contract signing. After completion, the 5 projects will be voted for the best results by the Art Contest jurors.

JURY
  • International jurors who are distinguished artists, highly profiled artistic scholars, or technical experts will be invited to select and judge for the award winners.

  • The jury reserves the right for the process of final selection and judgment.

  • The selection results and the decision made by the jury are final with no appeal.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • PMAC reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not meet our criteria, late entries arriving later than the specified submission period.

  • Artwork that infringes copyright will be disqualified.

  • PMAC retains the right on a long-term basis of all entries, prize winning works and selected works.

  • PMAC will take care of all entered works for the process of screenings, except the unexpected damages which happen beyond one’s control.

  • PMAC will not be responsible for any loss or damage of works during shipping and handling.
