Because of its centrality to UHC, sustainable financing is one of the 7 "Accelerators" under the Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-Being for All. The partner agencies active in the Sustainable Financing Accelerator have come together to organize this two-day side event on health financing, which we see as highly relevant given that health financing is one of the 3 sub-themes of PMAC2020, bringing together country evidence to inform challenging policy questions, such as the political economy of health financing reforms, strategies to improve domestic resource mobilization, PFM reforms to improve budget formation and execution, building more strategic purchasing, transition from development assistance, policy determinants of financial protection, and approaches to assessing progress with health financing reforms.

The objectives of the session are to share the latest evidence from countries and stimulate debate so that the key policy issues and concerns around each potential topic can be sharpened. In turn, this should lead to refined directions for policy, advocacy, and research.
