Caryn Bredenkamp is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Health Nutrition and Population Global Practice. Currently, she is based in Hanoi, Vietnam where she leads the World Bank’s lending and advisory work in the health sector. Prior to that, she served at the Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Manila office, providing technical assistance on health financing policy to the governments of the Philippines, Myanmar and Timor-Leste. In previous assignments at World Bank headquarters, she led global initiatives on health equity, worked on results-based financing programs in southern African countries, and nutrition policy in India. Caryn specializes in issues of health care financing, health insurance, and the promotion and measurement of health system equity.
Caryn holds a PhD in Public Policy (Health Economics), a Master’s degree in Economics and, before joining the World Bank Group, spent several years lecturing Economics in South Africa and the Netherlands.
