As a Former Senior Assistant Minister for Global Health, MHLW, Dr. Ikeda has dealt with the preparation for hosting UHC Forum in 2017 at Tokyo and G20 Joint Session of Finance and Health Ministers in 2019 at Osaka. She has been engaged in public health for 30 years at both national and local and international level. Dr. IKEDA was Executive Director of the National Hospital Organization composed of 142 hospitals in 2015 and was previously Vice-Governor of Niigata prefecture. She also led the technology transfer program at Western Pacific Regional Office of the World Health Organization(WPRO) in 1999 and activities in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Region at the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) from 2000 to 2003. She graduated Tsukuba University
with a degree of medicine and holds master degrees in public health and science from Harvard School of Public Health.
