Dr. Thant Sin Htoo
Biosketch
Dr. Thant Sin Htoo is a medical doctor with master degree in health economics. He has rich experiences in teaching the undergraduate medical students in their final part (I) MBBS about Preventive and Social Medicine, covering health and health care concepts, environmental health, epidemiology, biostatistics, communicable and non-communicable disease control and public health administration where observatory and participatory tours such as residential field training and community medicine training program included. Since 2006 up to now, is responsible for teaching health economics, public health management and health system analysis in master and PhD courses in Public Health and other clinical subjects.
Since 2013 up to now, involving in setting up national health policy, national health plan and become a focal person for Universal Health Coverage in Myanmar and a think tank member to feed the health policy briefs to Ministry and Government for UHC.
During 2014-15 periods, he had the responsibility of compilation, calculation and analysis of National Health Account of Myanmar. He deeply involved in the formulation and implementation of the New National Health Plan (2017-2021) with multi stakeholders’ involvement towards Universal Health Coverage in Myanmar by the year 2030 and currently he is the head of semi-autonomous technical unit within the Ministry of Health and Sports called National Health Plan Implementation Monitoring Unit (NIMU) actively engaging in global health financing and UHC movements.
