BACKGROUND :

Join us for the joint launch of two new publications on how to implement case-based (DRG) payments for health, and learn about why and how countries are increasingly using this provider payment method. The first is a World Bank book on “Transition to DRG Payments for Health” which examines how nine different health systems have transitioned to using case-based payments, and especially diagnosis-related groups (DRGs), as part of the provider payment mix for hospital care. The WHO publication, a “Question & Answer Guide on Case-Based Payments”, addresses commonly-asked policy questions on case-based payment and DRG design and implementation. These publications will be a valuable resource to those considering introducing case-based payments and, more generally, reforming their provider payment mechanisms.
